A WRL GROUP 4 (NOW GROUP 3**) ENDURANCE RACE CAR. THIS IS A RUST-FREE TEXAS MUSTANG.
**WRL HAS CLASSIFIED THE V6 MUSTANG IN GROUP 2. HOWEVER, CLASSIFICATION IS BASED ON POWER-TO-WEIGHT RATIO.
WITH THE ADDITION OF APPROXIMATELY 20 LBS OF BALLAST, THIS MUSTANG CAN BE RUN IN GROUP 3).
ENGINE RECENTLY GONE THRU BY ORIGINAL BUILDER. EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT W/ZERO ISSUES.
ENGINE OIL & FILTER CHANGED AFTER EVERY TEST &/OR RACE WEEKEND.
MODIFIED PERFORMANCE INTAKE SYSTEM & OIL COOLER.
ENGINE IS EQUIPPED W/’SHORTY’ HEADERS AS I HAVE NOT FOUND A LONG-TUBE HEADER THAT I FELT WOULD PROVIDE A SIGNIFICANT POWER-TO-DOLLARS SPENT ADVANTAGE.
THE DUAL EXHAUST EXIT THRU BORLA RACE MUFFLERS JUST BEFORE FUEL TANK. THIS WILL INSURE ZERO SOUND ISSUES W/SOUND AT ANY TRACK YOU RUN.
GLENN’S PERFORMANCE (AZ) COBRA FUEL TANK MODIFIED FOR ROAD RACING (INCLUDES COBRA FUEL PUMP).
THE 5-SPD TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN COMPLETELY REBUILT W/NEW CLUTCH ASSY INSTALLED.
DIFFERENTIAL HAS BEEN COMPLETELY REBUILT W/3.55:1 GEARING & NEW LSD ASSY.
BRAKES HAVE BEEN UPGRADED TO 2000 COBRA R SPECS (FRONT & REAR).
SUSPENSION CONSISTS OF MODIFIED KONI STRUTS (F) & KONI SHOCKS (R). KONI SHOCKS (F&R) ARE EASILY ADJUSTED W/OUT REMOVING THEM FROM THE CAR.
STEEDA SPRINGS (F&R). STEEDA FRONT (ADJUSTABLE) & REAR STABILIZER BARS. STEEDA FRONT CAMBER PLATES MAXED AT THREE (3) DEGREES NEGATIVE.
MODIFIED STEERING RACK ASSY. THE RATIO IS NOT CHANGED, BUT THE ‘SLACK’ IS TAKEN OUT TO
MAKE FOR A MORE RESPONSIVE FEEL. AN OE UNMODIFIED STEERING RACK IS ALSO PROVIDED.
REAR UPPER & LOWER CONTROL ARMS REPLACED W/STEEDA UNITS.
FRONT SUB-FRAME ASSY & LOWER A-ARMS HAVE BEEN UPGRADED TO LESSEN FRONT-END WEIGHT & ALLOW EASIER ACCESS FOR SERVICING.
COBRA FRONT BUMPER W/FUNCTIONING BRAKE DUCTING. ALSO INCLUDED ARE FRONT & REAR LIGHTWEIGHT
ALUMINUM ‘BRACKETS’ WHICH REPLACE THE OE STEEL UNITS BEHIND THE FRONT/REAR BUMPER COVERS.
TWELVE (12) 17x8 ENKEI ALUMINUM WHEELS. EIGHT (8) BLACK & FOUR (4) SILVER.
NOTE: THIS MUSTANG IS EASY ON TIRES HAVING RUN A 24-HOUR RACE (HIGH PLAINS RACEWAY IN COLORADO) W/OUT HAVING TO CHANGE TIRES. WE RAN YOKOHOMA 245/45x17 TIRES.
I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU RUN 200 RATED TIRES (AS OPPOSED TO THE SOFTER 180 RATED TIRES). THE 200 TIRES ARE BETTER FOR ENDURANCE RACING DUE TO THE ‘HARDER’ COMPOUND.
THE 180 RATED TIRES ARE MORE SUITED TO (SCCA) SPRINT RACES. WHATEVER SPEED YOU GIVE UP USING THE 200 TIRES WILL PAY DIVIDENDS W/NO TIRE CHANGES.
3.8L RACE PREPPED SHORT BLOCK (NO CYLINDER HEADS) W/LOTS OF PIECES TO BUILD A BACKUP ENGINE. INCLUDES ENGINE STAND & HOIST.
HEADLAMPS HAVE BEEN MODIFIED FOR HIGH-INTENSITY LIGHTS & SUPPLIMENTED BY A ‘BAJA DESIGNS’ CENTER LIGHT.
ALL LIGHTING IS EQUIPPED W/PLASTIC PROTECTIVE COVERS EASILY REMOVED FOR OVERCAST &/OR NIGHT DRIVING.
CAR IS EQUIPPED W/FULL AUTOPOWER ROLL CAGE. HOWEVER, WRL MANDATES AN ADDITIONAL BAR CONNECTING THE A-PILAR SUPPORTS OF THE CAGE OVER THE
DASH SO THIS WILL HAVE TO BE INSTALLED BEFORE IT CAN BE APPROVED FOR WRL. HOWEVER, THE CAR CAN BE RUN IN SCCA EVENTS TO GET SOME SEAT TIME.
